Sea SA founder awarded for Excellence in Tourism
Stuart Ballantyne, co-founder of Sea SA car & passenger ferries, was delighted to be the recipient of the 'Outstanding contribution by an individual to tourism' category at the recent regional 'Excellence in Tourism Awards' hosted by Tourism Eyre Peninsula (TEP).
TEP chair, Jayne Holland, presented Stuart with his award at a recent tourism conference, in recognition of the significant boost to tourism that the creation of the cross-Gulf ferry service had contributed.
Since Sea SA launched its service in December 2006, tourism across the Eyre Peninsula had benefited greatly by the attendant influx of visitors to the region. Indeed, within the first 8 months of operation, Sea SA celebrated the carriage of its 50,000th passenger and 20,000th vehicle, substantially outperforming projected targets.
Sea SA has also been nominated for awards in the upcoming SA Great Regional Awards and is an entrant in this year's South Australian Tourism Awards.
