Sea SA $4,500 Local Charity Give-away
Sea SA Car & Passenger ferries has pledged $4,500 worth of free ferry travel to a range of Eyre Peninsula based charitable and community organizations, at a special presentation held in Port Lincoln on 22 July 2009.
Sea SA surprised 9 leading not-for-profit groups with the gesture which Managing Director, Stephanie Dawson says “was designed to bring hope during a climate of doom and gloom.”
The Eyre Peninsula branch of the Make a Wish Foundation; the Red Cross (Port Lincoln); the Salvation Army (Port Lincoln); the Royal Flying Doctors Association; Compass; Community House Port Lincoln; Offenders Aid & Rehabilitation (OAR); Eyre Futures Inc; and SA Pensioners Association will each receive $500 worth of vouchers for free ferry travel between the Eyre and Yorke Peninsulas, valid for a 12 month period.
“For some families, the global financial crisis is yet another stress on top of the pressures of meeting the ongoing needs of children and adults with disabilities, serious illness or facing some other disadvantage,” Stephanie Dawson said.
“This is a small way in which we can help alleviate that pressure, and give recognition to the great work these organizations do in our community to help so many people in need,” she added.
