Q. How do I get to Wallaroo?

A. Travel by car from Adelaide on National Highway One to Port Wakefield, then follow highway B85 to Kadina, then through to Wallaroo.  Along the way you will see blue ‘ferry’ signs directing you to the Sea SA terminal at Wallaroo.

Q. How do I get to Lucky Bay (near Cowell)?

A. From Pt Lincoln or Whyalla, follow the Lincoln Highway and turn off for Lucky Bay.  The Lucky Bay Road is now fully sealed, making it safer and smoother than ever before.

Q. How much does it cost on the ferry?

A. Please visit the fares page for current prices.  There is a popular myth that taking the ferry is more expensive than driving around the Spencer Gulf.  But most people consider only the fuel outlay associated with driving around and not the full costs.  An analysis conducted for Sea SA by accounting firm and transport industry experts, Davidsons DE & M, revealed that fuel costs only account for 28% of the total outlays involved.   Taking into account the full costs of driving around, such as wear and tear on vehicles, insurance, depreciation on vehicle value – not to mention the personal toll of accident risk and stress due to speeding fines, pot-holes, and driver fatigue – the picture is very different.
Furthermore, a number of special short-term offers and off-peak discounts are made available throughout the year, to make the cost of ferry travel even more attractive.  Watch our fares page for details.

Q. Do I have to take my car?

A. No, walk-on passengers and bicycles are all welcome. There will be some bus connections on both sides to meet the ferry on arrival. Please check at the time of booking.

Q. What are the rules about carrying luggage on the ferry?

A. To comply with insurance and passenger safety requirements, all freight and other items must be transported in a registered vehicle.  Standard passenger hand luggage which does not exceed the size and weight manageable by one person is permissable, but must be carried at the passenger's own risk and must be kept with the passenger at all times. Transportation of larger freight is not permissable unless transported within a vehicle.

Q. Can I take my dog / cat on the ferry?

A. Yes, pets are welcome, but for health and safety reasons, must be kept in the vehicle at all times.
