New sealed road to Sea SA ferry a ‘huge difference’ for lucky 1000th biker
Local biker, William ‘Spud’ Lovegrove, 46, was delighted to be presented with a special gift pack from Sea SA car & passenger ferries recently, in honour of being the 1000th motorcyclist to travel on the Spencer Gulf ferry. Spud was making the return journey home to Streaky Bay, after attending the Waikerie Football Club 100 Year Centenary, when he was thrilled to receive the surprise gift, inclusive of a complimentary ferry voucher for a return motorcycle trip valued at $120, from Sea SA Skipper, Jack Robbins.
As he boarded the ferry at Wallaroo for Lucky Bay, he said the gift was a double delight, after discovering on the journey over that the 13 kilometre road from the Lincoln Highway to the ferry terminal at Lucky Bay had now been sealed, with only 2 kilometres due for completion by the end of the month.
“It used to be a bit sticky, especially for big bikes, quite an issue because in the wet, you could slip and slide like on a skating rink,” Spud said.
“Sealing the Lucky Bay road has made a huge difference for motorbikes travelling on the ferry. It’s really good now, very compact. I look forward to using my voucher for my next trip,” he grinned.
