Fairies afloat on ferry
Skipper Gordon 'Fozzy' Foster was all smiles in the wheel house during a surprise visit by Make-A-Wish®Australia “Wish Fairies†during recent school holidays, only too happy to be part of such a good cause.
The Wish Fairies handed out balloons and painted the faces of delighted children on board Sea SA's ferry to raise community awareness of the needs of local kids aged between 4 and 18 living with a life threatening illness.
Volunteer organizer, Belinda Knight invited passengers to view a DVD showcasing one of the recently granted wishes and encouraged questions from the crowd about any aspect of the wish granting process.
“We are truly grateful to the Captain and staff of Sea SA for allowing us this opportunity to come on board. We certainly had a lot of fun and hope that the passengers did too,†Belinda said.
Sea SA has been running its passenger and vehicle ferry service between Wallaroo and Lucky Bay since December 8, 2006. “Locals have supported us from the outset and we are glad to be able to give something back to the community to show our appreciation. By having the local Make-A-Wish Wish Fairies on board we are able to help them achieve their goal of reaching more eligible children in the community,†said Sea SA spokesperson, Justine Day.
