Sea SA car & passenger ferries has successfully achieved National Tourism Accreditation, the Australian Standard for excellent business practice and quality service within the tourism industry, Sea SA Managing Director, Stephanie Dawson announced at the Naming Ceremony for new ferry, Sea Spirit 1, on 7 April 2008.
.
“I am delighted that Sea SA has now satisfied all requirements for achieving the nationally recognized Tourism Accreditation ‘tick’, the industry benchmark which signifies professional, reliable and consistent business procedures in line with best practice,” Stephanie revealed.
“It’s the icing on the cake for us, in what has been an amazing first 15 months of operating our service across the Spencer Gulf. In that time, we have already attracted in excess of 100,000 passengers, but I believe Accreditation will give our customers even greater confidence, knowing that our business operates in line with Australian and International standards for quality,” she said.
Achieving Tourism Accreditation follows Sea SA’s success last year in the SA Great Regional awards, when the company was named winner of the Australia Post Large Business award in the region of Mid North / Yorke Peninsula / Southern Flinders.
Sea SA has also clinched an Australian Marine Environment Protection Association award, because two ferries on the Spencer Gulf route produce just 733 tonnes of Co2 annually, while to drive around the Gulf, the same volume of vehicles would produce 25,110 tonnes of Co2 annually, 34 times as much.
With the capacity to carry up to 300 passengers and 92 vehicles of all sizes, Sea SA’s new $16 million ferry, Sea Spirit 1, will elevate travel between the Yorke and Eyre Peninsulas to a whole new level.
Sea SA operates daily, year round, between Wallaroo and Lucky Bay. Bookings are essential and can be made on line at www.seasa.com.au or at the ticket office on 08 – 8823 0777.
