Twin Ferry Summer Timetable to return to Sea SA

Sea SA car & passenger ferries has resumed operation of two ferries across the Spencer Gulf in time for the busier summer season.

On Friday 31st October 2008, Sea Scape, predecessor to the company’s larger ferry, Wallaroo based Sea Spirit, returned to Lucky Bay near Cowell.  It will be her home port until the end of April next year.

“We carefully track demand on a daily basis, and we are confident that boosting our Summer services in this way will be welcome news to people travelling between the Eyre and Yorke Peninsulas,” Sea SA Managing Director, Stephanie Dawson said.

She cited the expected rise in tourist traffic over the holiday period, combined with growth in truck and bus trade, keen to take advantage of the newly sealed Lucky Bay road, plus savings in fuel and driver fatigue, as key predictors of the ongoing popularity of the ferry route which cuts 350 kilometres in road travel.

Under the new timetable, Sea SA has duplicated existing services simultaneously from both sides of the Gulf, allowing for 8 services on weekdays, and 4 services on each day of the weekend.  Ferry services will operate every day except for Christmas Day.

Bookings are essential, especially during peak periods, and can be made on line at www.seasa.com.au .
