Easter Spirit on the Gulf!
On Easter Monday, Sea SA welcomed the Red Cross aboard and recorded its busiest day ever, with a total of 320 cars and 1000 passengers making the cross-Gulf journey via twin ferries, Sea Spirit and Sea Scape.
Volunteers from the Red Cross Kadina branch included Lorraine Darling, Patricia Donnelly, Jan Fletcher, Jacky Matheson and David Iadner (alias the 'Trauma Bear'), who helped raise public awareness of the dangers on the roads especially during holiday periods.
Sea SA Managing Director Stephanie Dawson said, 'With driver fatigue widely known as a major cause of fatal accidents on our roads, we are delighted to be able to offer travellers an alternative to the lengthy road trip around the Gulf and to support the Red Cross in making people more aware of the need to rest.'
'Our motto druing holiday times is - Choose a snooze aboard a cruise - as it could well save lives and improve our road toll!' Stephanie added.
Red Cross organiser, Lorraine Darling said that the day proved highly successful, with almost $200 collected in loose change during the voyage, and many children participating in the onboard colouring competition in the quest to win Easter eggs!
Young Charlie McGown (pictured below, front left) was just one child to join in the fun, as he returned from a camping trip at Port Neill, on the Eyre Peninsula, to his home in Rose Park aboard the ferry.
