Sea SA car & passenger ferries was named joint winner of the South Australian Tourism Commission Tourism Award in the region of Eyre Peninsula at the SA Great Regional Awards in December.
The honour was shared with Baird Bay Eco Experience, and comes hot on the heels of Sea SA clinching SA Great’s Australia Post Large Business award in the region of Mid North / Yorke Peninsula / Southern Flinders in November.
Now in its 8th year, the SA Great Regional awards program acknowledges South Australians who live and work in regional areas and make outstanding economic, social and business contributions to their local communities. This year, more than 600 entries were received across all regions.
SA Great Project Co-ordinator, Michelle Harvey explained that each award is for outstanding achievements and significant contributions demonstrating excellence in regional leadership.
“Given that the judging panel is made up of people from the local area, they are in good stead to determine which businesses are the stand-out performers. The judges look not just for significant contributions, but for sound business practices and a passion and pride in their region and product, which Sea SA ably demonstrated,” Michelle said.
Sea SA Managing Director, Stephanie Dawson said, “Sea SA could ask for no better birthday present than this and we feel very privileged to receive two regional SA Great Awards in just our first year of operation. The level of local support we have received has been outstanding. We are truly grateful that the people of the Eyre Peninsula have embraced our new service so fully, with more than 82,000 passengers choosing to travel with us in just 12 months.”
