Spencer Gulf ferry the most competitively priced in the land

 

Sea SA remains the lowest and most competitively priced ferry service based on cost per car mile of all 14 car and passenger ferry services in Australia, a company survey conducted in September 2008 has revealed.

The Spencer Gulf service which operates daily between the Yorke and Eyre Peninsulas, and saves motorists a 350 kilometre round road trip, costs just $7.30 per car mile compared with the national average of $19.20 per car mile.

The analysis was based on a one-way fare for one standard vehicle and three passengers.  “Our service covers the largest expanse of water of any ferry operation in the country, with the 31 nautical mile (or 57 kilometre) journey giving our customers real value for money,” Sea SA Managing Director, Stephanie Dawson revealed.

“We are acutely aware of how rising fuel costs, and high costs of living are impacting on family budgets, so maintaining our price competitiveness is an integral part of our service,” Stephanie added.

To boost its price appeal, Sea SA has also released ‘Early Bird’ specials offering customers the chance to save up to half of their ferry fares on select services during the week.

“Our 'Early Bird' discount ferry fares are available to full-fare paying customers travelling in standard cars on the 7.30am ferry from Wallaroo from Monday to Friday, and the 4.00pm ferry from Lucky Bay from Monday to Thursday,” Stephanie explained.

To take advantage of Sea SA’s Early Bird discounts, you must be one of the first 15 customers to book and pay at least the day before your scheduled travel time, to receive a half price fare.    Be one of the next 10 to book and pay at least the day before your scheduled travel time, and your fare is reduced by 25%.

 

Sea SA’s Early Bird specials are available to full fare paying customers until 14 December 2008, excluding Public holidays.  Bookings are essential.
